One rumour floating around in relation to GTA 6 is that physical copies of the PS5 title will not arrive until 2027 in order to avoid leaks prior to release.
That claim has now been debunked by Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick: "That's not the plan," he said in a new interview with Variety. As part of today's financial call, the company also shared it's still on course to put out GTA 6 in November 2026.
Last week, a Polish website claimed GTA 6 would launch as a digital-only title at launch to avoid leaks before release, through copies distributed before the street date. The rumour apparently came from a "trusted" source, but it's now been officially shot down.
It looks like Rockstar Games plans to make GTA 6 available both physically and digitally on 19th November 2026.

Plot twist - only part of the game is on the disc and the rest won't be available to download until release day.
I think they wouldn't want to miss that "200 million copies sold" on release day type record.

That would have been a really stupid reason to not launch a physical copy, as the game doesn’t entirely revolve around just its story.
The plan is for like a few hundred mb and the licence to be on the disc. And I'll wait until the may or August earnings call before I believe the game is still "on track"
As a 10 plus year digital only gamer i am happy physical media is still there for those that want it. Even tho that number shrinks year to year. I still am happy to see it around for who wants it. Options are good. I was never one to want to subtract from the industry. The whole certain gamers that want Xbox gone, many of which forget some of them were the same that wanted Nintendo to go 3rd party and now have and love the Switch. Many forget how large the voice online was calling for Nintendo to leave hardware. At least home console hardware, not so sure about handheld. Options are good for all gamers and the industry needs as many makers in the hardware and physical media markets as player choice is great for all.
